Once your turn has started, you will be able to recruit additional units. To recruit, double-click your Castle. You also can press the short-cut macro ALT+R to recruit. A window should pop up with a list of units that you are able to recruit.

The left part of the menu shows how much gold you have, your current income, and how many units you have at this time. Units cost gold, so you need enough gold to purchase units. The price of a unit is located under the unit's name, beside its icon. To recruit a unit, press the Recruit button on the right. The button will be greyed out if you cannot recruit a unit, or you don't have enough space on your castle.

You only may recruit a unit when your leader is on your castle keep. The keep is the castle with the red flags and doors on it. It is usually located at the center of your castle. Castles sometimes may have more than one keep. You also will not be able to recruit units when your castle is already full. This includes enemy units as well.

To recall a unit, press ALT+T. You may only recall a unit that has been dismissed (see the Units section for information about dismissing units) later in the game. The recalled unit must have been dismissed at least 2 turns before the turn you try to recall the unit. Recalling a unit costs a third of the price of the unit's buy price. You may only recall one unit per turn.
